About the Team

The Global Partners & Services Legal team supports our Global Partners Organization on transactions with Workday partners and in designing, implementing, and operating Workday’s various partner programs. Our team also supports Workday’s Customer Experience Organization on its path to continuously enhance and optimize Workday’s customer support, education, customer success, and professional services offerings. We collaborate closely with the broader Workday legal team and other cross-functional teams to support strategic growth initiatives, improve partner and customer experience, and scale on our path to $10 billion in revenue.

About the Role

This lawyer will work closely with our existing team of enterprise transactional counsel as well as our partner business, customer experience, and operations functions to efficiently execute and help optimize our contracting approach. This role will support cross functional initiatives that align to our go-to-market strategy for new markets, new channels, and our company-wide strategic growth initiatives. This is a high growth area and the ideal candidate is a confident self-starter who can prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with agility and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional judgment and business acumen and be comfortable, effective, and persuasive in dealing with customers, partners, senior management, and business stakeholders, and will be an advocate for innovative change to drive process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive valuable technology transactions, which will include negotiation with partners and customers, including partner program, data processing and professional services agreements, assignments, amendments, and other transactions

  • Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks

  • Assist in implementing legal efficiencies to support the global partner and professional services business units and improve our contract processes and operations in those segments

  • Help build and improve contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and internal training for services sales, services operations, contract operations, and the broader GTM legal team on how we can eliminate friction in the contract experience

  • Partner effectively with relationship managers, partner operations, deals management, sales, revenue recognition, privacy, security, and contracts operations

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. Degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 state bar

  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house/public sector legal department

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with a combination of general transactional experience and privacy counseling

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, preferably with enterprise software/SaaS experience.

  • Persuasive with the ability to advocate for the business.

  • Strong teammate with ability to build internal and external relationships, and to collaborate regularly with cross-functional networks

  • Supports business needs with strategic focus, critical thinking and problem solving approach

  • Identifies and analyzes legal risks and exercises good judgment in counseling clients on mitigation strategies

  • Manages legal projects using strong organizational and project management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing environment

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $147,400 - $221,200
