About the Team
The Enterprise Architecture and Data Services organization in Business Technology takes pride in enabling data driven business outcomes to orchestrate Workday’s growth through trusted data excellence, innovation and architecture thought leadership. The team is responsible for developing and supporting Data Services, Data Warehouse, Analytics, Core Data Management (MDM), Data Quality and Advanced Analytics/ML together with Data Governance, using groundbreaking cloud platforms.About the Role

As a highly visible and technical leadership role, you will be responsible for
Driving strategic and operational excellence through continuous improvements in data management, people and processes to elevate business value with agility and scale
Heading the delivery and maintenance of large enterprise scale, critical data management and data engineering capabilities, inclusive of data lake and data warehouse
Establishing the roadmap and vision for enterprise scale data engineering, executing on this roadmap to deliver shared frameworks for the broader enterprise BI/Application development teams.
Responsible for all data management initiatives with a solid focus on prioritization, speed and bias for action
Collaboration multi-functionally, understands the overall enterprise Data Lakehouse Architecture and develops and matures the end-to-end solutions for data sourcing, data processing/integration, data provisioning, modeling and delivery.
Partnering with Enterprise Analytics, Finance, Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience partners on building trust and adoption of data ecosystem
Establishing strong multi-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Data Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
Driving the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
Defining and handling data coverage, time to insight, reusability, data SLA’s and other metrics demonstrating the maturity
Conflict resolution, adept in handling multiple moving parts and a fast-learner, picking up new concepts and paradigms on the ‘go’.
Product first mind-set to develop data products which are resilient, stable and always on. Working with different teams across the organization, ensures that critically important data products are highly available and resilient.
Delivering projects to successful completion as defined by predetermined project success criteria including those established by the business, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Lead, mentor, and develop team, while creating a vision for team and educating multi-functional teams on how to leverage data to find opportunities to increase revenue and performance.
Working with multiple partners, and deliver data products/solutions and services in an agile and forward-thinking manner.
Playing an important player/coach role, guide a distributed team, drive inter-team collaboration and alignment, and allow for individual autonomy and accountability
Workforce development to imbibe an inclusive and performance based culture across the data engineering team
Keeping up to date on key technology, business and industry trends.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of collective experience leading different data platforms (Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, Business Analytics, Data Ingestion, Machine Learning, Master Data Management)
8+ years of management experience directly building and leading people
Other Qualifications
Consistent track record of developing and implementing strategic roadmaps on data management capabilities that drive business growth, scale and operational cost/risk reduction.
Shown thought leadership in the field of data engineering with a proven expertise in delivering large scale Data Lakes and Warehouses
Experience with a breadth of Data Integration tools, Databases, Big Data Platforms, Cloud based data platforms and Data Streaming technologies.
Proven ability to understand enterprise data in the context of business goals
Sophisticated level of experience with ETL technologies, Data Streaming using integration patterns like Kafka, Spark Streaming.
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent cloud based data/ platforms like GCP/AWS data platform
Experience in building from the ground up a modern next generation data lakehouse platform.
Validated experience of building trust and driving change
Experience or understanding of programming languages like Python, Java, R, Shell, Perl etc. is a plus.
SaaS industry experience is preferred.
Proven ability to communicate complex concepts and innovative data ideas in a compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in the enterprise implementation, leadership experience, strategic planning, strong business sense.
Experience working in high-growth, high-velocity and highly matrixed organizations.
A Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related field, or equivalent experience

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
