About the Team

Workday has built an Enterprise Data & Analytics Team to transform and optimize the way Workday builds and shares trusted data to drive insights and data led innovation across the enterprise. One of the key organizational principles of the group is the treatment of data and analytical assets as products with an agile methodology to support their continued development. Each data product will have a dedicated cross-functional Fusion Team to drive data onboarding, security, discovery, transformation, and analytics to create value in line with the business priorities. About the Role

About the Role

The Analytics Engineer plays a vital role on the Enterprise Data & Analytics team by providing the engineering horsepower to bring data products to life. The Analytics Engineer will be responsible for the modeling, transformation, and serving of datasets and analysis to support requirements that are established by the Fusion Team. You will work with cross-functional partners and domain experts to build scalable and highly-adopted data products to the broader Analytics community and leadership at Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Build datasets using software engineering standard methodologies, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, recent advances in distributed systems, and operational and engineering excellence best practices.

  • Build shared data assets generating transparency into critical business metrics

  • Build and maintain automated data pipelines that transform data into clean and highly optimized assets to address continuously evolving analytical requirements.

  • Create extensible and scalable data schema and pipelines that lay the foundation for downstream analysis using SQL and Python

  • Partner with business systems analysts, data quality engineers, and product managers to develop Workday data products.

  • Analyze systems, review data models, develop transformations, and document the specifications.

  • Identify and analyze multi-structured data from a variety of sources to assess its effectiveness and accuracy to meet analytics requirements.

  • Demonstrate passion for quality and productivity by using efficient development techniques, standards and guidelines.

  • Effectively communicate through user documentation, commented code, and interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Technical Field, Computer Science or Mathematics.

  • proven experience in the data warehouse space.

  • proven experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.

  • 3+ years experience in writing SQL statements.

  • 2+ years experience working with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.)

  • 2+ years experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.

  • Proficient in one of Programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, C++)

  • Communication skills, including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights and communicating data warehouse plans to internal workmates.

Other Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling and/or data engineering work in large enterprise company

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks)

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $160,200 - $240,200


Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $116,500 - $240,200
