About the Role

We are hiring! Workday Tax Department is seeking an International Tax Director to join a collaborative and growing team. This position will report to the VP, Tax and lead the Company’s international tax function. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a good mix of industry and professional service firm experience with the skills to jump right in and make a difference

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the international tax aspects of ASC 740 reporting (includes preparation of international tax portion of quarterly and annual tax provision), disclosure, and SOX compliance.

  • Own the international portion of US income tax compliance (including tax return preparation), with advance experience on subpart F, GILTI, BEAT, FDII, foreign tax credits and cash repatriation.

  • Responsible for meeting all tax reporting obligations arising from Workday’s International Operations including being responsible for local country income tax compliance and reporting obligations and support foreign finance in review of statutory financials of foreign subsidiaries.

  • Actively support international tax planning function, support tax modeling and forecasting.

  • Build international tax efficient processes, including automation, developing, and implementing procedural and process changes.

  • Play a leadership role engaging in business partnering within the company to understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure that tax needs are identified, communicated, and provided.

  • Monitor international related global legislative and regulatory changes; assess and advise management on tax impacts to Workday’s operations.

  • Support foreign tax audit defense and notices as required.

  • Support M&A projects including post-acquisition IP/compliance integration.

  • Train, mentor, and build an effective and successful team.

About You

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 12 to 15 years of US international and corporate tax experience in public accounting and/or high-tech industry.

  • 8 to 10 years of foreign international tax and statutory financial experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of ASC 740 financial reporting experience.

Preferred additional qualifications:

  • CPA strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of an organization; ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax partners.

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities, able to research complex tax matters.

  • Ability to think strategically and bring a high level of creativity to the organization regarding accelerating growth.

  • Hands-on managerial abilities with strong project management, organizational and execution skills.

  • Detail oriented self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Embrace agile thinking and innovation.

  • Proficient in MS Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint; OneSource Tax Provision is a plus.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $203,800 - $305,600


Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $168,900 - $305,600
