About the Role:
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to report into our Director of Compliance. This is a hybrid role in office Tuesday and Thursday in San Francisco HQ office.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee and enhance Upgrade’s Compliance Issue Management processes.
- Act as the primary contact to the Operations, Compliance, IT, providing support and compliance risk expertise on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change.
- Work closely with Compliance, IT, and Operational teams to ensure identified issues are remediated timely.
- Manage intake of identified Compliance issues and document action plans for resolution.
- Oversee Compliance issue validation and reporting
- Provide compliance guidance related to Upgrade’s products and processes to Operations.
- Participate in regulatory compliance audits and examinations.
What We Look For:
- Deep understanding of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to financial institutions.
- Broad knowledge of financial products, markets, and laws and regulations, including consumer regulations such as ECOA, TILA, FDCPA, FCRA, and UDAAP.
- Working knowledge and understanding of compliance management systems.
- Understanding of regulations applying to credit cards, auto loans, and unsecured credit.
- Excellent critical thinking, presentation, written communication, time management, and analytical skills.
- Integrity, motivation, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years background in compliance, auditing, testing, legal, or regulatory/law enforcement experience specific to consumer credit and deposit products.
- Experience in the financial services industry, either working for a lender, investor, marketplace platform, law firm, or regulator
- Understanding of consumer-facing regulations, information technology systems, and standard system implementation methodologies
