WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

TIFIN Studios is the innovation division of TIFIN that conceives and creates fintech companies. We start with frictions that individuals face and address with fin (investment algos + science) and tech (AI + innovative software). We build MVPs in 3 months with production-ready products in 6-12 months with real-time feedback from an ecosystem of industry professionals.

TIFIN Studios is seeking a Head of Data Science. This leader will be responsible for driving the development of a number of AI based products and also play a key role in hiring data scientists for specific projects. The AI based products center primarily around conversational AI assistants and personalization with application across different themes and user groups. We are looking for a creative thinker who can lead strategy and vision as well as be hands on with early stage projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and drive TIFIN Studios data science strategy and teams. Think holistically and strategically about the collective data, including additional data sources, new AI/ML techniques, and business applications.
• Own short-term and long-term vision and planning for TIFIN Studios’ data science and product organizations.
• Define, plan and prioritize data projects, and then guide execution in alignment with organizational goals and revenue projections.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs and lead the formulation and complete end-to-end analysis to include: data gathering, analysis, scaled deliverables, recommendations and presentations to stakeholders.
• Deliver complete, product-specific analytic concepts and solutions to the operating companies for deployment, including maintenance and evolution plans to ensure long-term viability of the models and apps.
• Manage TIFIN Studios’ Data Science engines and toolbox enabling scaling and reuse of Data Science components (algos, models, etc.).
• Experiment with new models and techniques to ensure continuous improvement. Implement a set of standardized processes and tools for scaling internal data science capabilities. Identify and track performance metrics.
• Act as an adviser to a wide variety of projects and clients using data science and statistical methodologies.
• Develop and implement a framework to automate reports and dashboards to provide insights at scale.
• Lead data mining and collection procedures to ensure data quality and integrity; act as a resource to drive the analytical scope and method for projects.
• Attract talent and scale a world-class Data Science team based on established network and experience. Lead, mentor, and elevate the skills and capabilities of the team, and ensure retention of Tier-1 talent.
• Represent the data science organization to internal and external audiences and report on performance and status of team initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 7-10+ years experience in relevant, impactful data science roles with experience leading algorithmic-focused teams.
• Breadth and depth of data science knowledge and experience. Ideal candidate has exposure to a variety of data science techniques, including supervised and unsupervised machine learning, structured and unstructured data, deep learning / neural networks, natural language processing, conversational AI, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in statistics, machine learning models and algorithms, working with statistical packages and machine learning tools including, but not limited to R and Python.
• Work experience with an emphasis on quantitative research methods (Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or related fields).
• Must have customer-facing experience, unpacking and presenting complex topics to a less technical audience.
• Experience in translating analysis results to extract signals from the data for business recommendations.
• Knowledgeable about creating complex data sets (SQL), data modeling and reporting.
• Experience working with external API’s and product integrations is preferred but not required.
• Work experience in data science within a financial services or fintech product focus is a plus but not required.
• Master’s degree in CS, machine learning, data science, operations research, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
• Must be in or willing to relocate to either Boulder, CO.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $180,000 - $200,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for incentive compensation.
