About the team:
As a Data Scientist on this team, you will be responsible for identifying and supervising key insights that drive Robinhood's Risk functions. You will work closely across functions to understand the business challenges and propose streamlined solutions. You will perform data analytics, build ETL automation, and construct robust dashboards to better inform the enterprise decision-making processes and cultivate a risk-adjusted mentality throughout Robinhood.
What you'll do day-to-day:
- Analyze large datasets and identify patterns and trends related to credit risk in the brokerage lending space. Conduct in-depth data analysis to evaluate credit and market risk factors, including credit history, financial statements, collateral valuation, market risks associated with financial assets and derivatives.
- Build and deploy production grade model solutions combining machine learning models and quantitative finance models to mitigate risk of brokerage lending products
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement insights and analytical solutions to empower data-driven decision making.
- Communicate complex findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management, in a clear and concise manner, enabling informed decision-making.
- Produce well-written documentation, including model white papers and analysis reports, to support decision-making, and model validation requirements
About you:
- Problem solving skills and a can-do attitude to dive deep into data to solve business problems
- Strong knowledge of quantitative finance models, including but not limited to asset volatility models, factor models, options pricing models
- Solid understanding of unsupervised learning, statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms for imbalanced datasets.
- Strong data wrangling skills to produce analytics insights by exploring large scale data sets
- Excellent programming skills, including familiarity with Python (numpy, scipy, pandas)
- Experience communicating data driven insights
- Knowledge of model risk governance and experience collaborating with model validation teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Tableau, Looker, and/or Mode
- Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering or natural sciences (or equivalent research experience)
- 2-4+ years professional experience as a Data Scientist or machine learning engineer
Bonus points:
- Experience at a fintech company or high-growth startup
- Experience with Looker in a developer capacity (writing LookML, creating views and explores, building dashboards, etc.)

The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan.
US Zone 1: $157000 - $185000
US Zone 2: $139000 - $163000
US Zone 3: $122000 - $144000
Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. You can view comp zones for our US office locations in the table below. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
