At Best Egg Flexible Rent we enable our users to pay their rent on their schedule — changing the way people pay, stay, and thrive in their homes. The Integrations Team makes this possible by interfacing closely with our bank and landlord partners, ensuring that the money and data needed to operate our product move correctly and smoothly. As the Integrations Team continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who can lead the team through its next level of growth, a fully automated rent payment system that pays hundreds of thousands of people's rent a month. The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with a Product Manager and Tech Lead to ensure the right people and the right processes are in place to achieve the team’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the technical quality of the team's services meet and exceed standards
- Ensuring timely delivery of committed projects
- Working with your Product Manager peer and Tech Lead to correctly size projects
- Interpret, confirm, and/or challenge business requirements to help ensure the highest impact work the team can do to help customers is being done.
- Advocate for the time and resources to do projects well to ensure high quality and a healthy team.
- Working with direct reports to set and accomplish right sized goals for the individual, their role and their career growth potential
- Give task-specific and behavioral feedback to direct reports, peers and leadership
- Perform performance reviews that fairly assess the impact your reports make on the company while being unsurprising to your reports as it matches the feedback received throughout the year.
Requirements
- 5+ years working as a lead or senior engineer
- 2+ years working in a managerial role
- Proven track record of growing the engineers on your team
- Proven track record of working well with a Product Manager and Tech lead to deliver high impact outcomes
- Demonstrable good judgement on assessing the state of your team and "engineering" it to the next level.

- You destroy ambiguity and encourage your team to do so as well. You especially focus on destroying ambiguity around the priority of tasks, ensuring the team does the import work and ignores non-import but urgent work.
