We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our team in Boston who will enhance and maintain the programs, policies, and tools required to support a fast growing financial technology company. You’ll work across functions and groups to ensure that our program and infrastructure complies with financial and regulatory obligations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to implement and respond to changing regulatory landscapes such as in the areas of Privacy (California Consumer Protection Act), TILA, debt collection, UDAAP, and the alphabet soup of regulations at a federal and state level.
  • Assist in the end-to-end execution of audits and examinations with vendors and regulators, including driving remediation projects, as necessary.
  • Operationalize the regulatory compliance program, including, but not limited to compliance with U.S. state and federal laws governing consumer lending.
  • Define and maintain policies and procedures, document solutions, and design initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate changes to applicable laws and if process changes are required.
  • Direct projects to remediate compliance related issues and findings.
  • Educate stakeholders as to the applicability of certain laws and their requirements.
  • Work to meet state licensing and reporting requirements, as needed.
  • Assist in enhancing our service provider and vendor management program.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and legal to design and expand Lendbuzz's products to ensure they meet relevant consumer lending compliance obligations.
  • Evaluate issues from third parties, lawsuits, complaints, and stakeholders to determine if additional controls or process changes are required.
  • Perform root cause analysis on complaints, and leverage such to enhance our risk and control framework.
  • Assist in legal matters as necessary.

Applicant Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience working in a compliance-related role.
  • Self starter able to drive projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Experience working with lending programs.
  • The ability to identify and define problems, build project plans to address them, and
  • manage implementation of solutions.
  • The ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment, with the
  • discernibility to escalate urgent issues when necessary.
  • Experience managing projects of a cross-functional and/or technically complex nature.
  • Interest in financial rules and regulations, and an eagerness to innovate in the spirit of
  • those restrictions.
  • Experience working with financial services audits a plus.
  • JD preferred but not required.
