Justworks’ unemployment insurance program helps customers mitigate financial and personnel costs while maintaining compliance with federal and state tax rules and regulations. By providing unemployment insurance support, we reduce the administrative burden our customers face, enabling them to focus on growing their businesses with confidence.
Justworks is seeking an experienced Manager to lead our Unemployment Insurance team. Our ideal candidate is excited about managing complexity within a regulated industry, is enthusiastic about people-management, and has a demonstrated ability to inspire, coach, mentor, and develop others.
As the Unemployment Insurance Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our Unemployment Insurance Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team to ensure work is completed in a manner that meets federal standards for timeliness, quantity and quality of work. You will be a go-to expert on all things related to unemployment insurance,interpreting/disseminating information on state, federal and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures to educate and keep staff, partners, clients and organization apprised and compliant. You will apply your knowledge as a multi-state Unemployment Insurance professional while developing and implementing improvements to multiple processes.
The Manager, Unemployment Insurance Operations will also be responsible for ensuring the long-term operation success of the unemployment insurance life cycle, working closely with other teams to develop and implement technology driven solutions. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work cross functionally, partnering often with colleagues in Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Business Operations, Business Intelligence, Onboarding, and Payment Tax Unit.
Your Success Profile
What You Will Work On
- Manage a team of associates responsible for executing day-to-day operations, resolving escalated issues as they arise.
- Oversee and improve workflows for wage garnishments, state verification documents, and unemployment insurance claims to ensure compliance, timely execution, and accurate remittance to agencies or vendors.
- Demonstrate and share knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques and trends of public administration including financial management, labor relations, and related governmental programs.
- Handle general management responsibilities associated with the existing team, such as leading regular team meetings, generating weekly metrics reports, and conducting periodic coaching and performance reviews.
- Develop a team that demonstrates a high level of accountability, initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently and on-time.
- Establish and ensure adherence to SLAs and collaboratively resolve issues with internal partners, vendors and agencies.
- Identify pain points and remediate issues by creating processes and maintaining operational tools.
- Communicate changes in procedures and other important updates across teams and key stakeholders.
- Work on and lead special projects to ensure the long-term operation success of the unemployment insurance life cycle in conjunction with the Director, Unemployment Insurance
- Partner with our Product and Engineering teams to improve systems, diagnose bugs, and deploy solutions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in unemployment insurance operation required
- Minimum of 1 year of people/team management and/or leadership experience
- Experience in the PEO/HR/benefits space preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Technologically savvy; experience with utilizing multiple systems and software programs
The base wage range for this position based in our Tampa Office is targeted at $101,250.00 to $113,500.00 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
