About the Role
As a Data Scientist within our team, your responsibilities will encompass developing meaningful metrics to evaluate performance, conveying compelling narratives through data visualizations, and building/testing rigorous models for our data-driven applications. The ideal candidate will not only be passionate about these tasks but also excited to help build our data platform from the ground up.
This position is based in our NYC office with an expectation of on-site presence five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of our business in order to define how we measure success
- Create dashboards and data visualizations as an expert user of our analytics tools
- Answer complex business questions and define new and existing metrics using SQL and Python
- Work with messy and incomplete data - clean and validate, identify outliers and impute missing values, and backtest to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Build, test, and iterate on models using statistical methods, working closely with the team on new data applications
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist
- Excellent analytical, statistical and modeling skills
- Proven ability to build, validate and backtest models
- Excellent in SQL and Python
- Strong data visualization skills and ability to present insights from analysis - previous experience with enterprise business intelligence tools, such as Sigma, Tableau, Looker
- Exceptional ability to clearly articulate complex data science strategies, both verbally and in written form
- A team player who can easily adapt and be flexible with a wide scope of responsibilities
- Proven ability to take initiative, operate independently, and act like an owner
- Experience working in fast-moving environments and a strong desire to thrive in an early stage startup
