About the Role

Coalition is looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our growing team of data scientists and help design and execute the vision for MLOps at Coalition. As an ML engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing machine learning systems, implementing appropriate ML algorithms, conducting experiments, and staying updated with the latest developments in the field. Your ultimate objective will be to create highly efficient self-learning applications that can adapt and evolve over time, pushing the boundaries of AI technology.

This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement robust, scalable ML infrastructure, including data storage, processing, and model serving components, to support seamless integration of AI/ML models into production environments
  • Design and implement automated ML pipelines for data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter tuning, and model evaluation, enabling rapid experimentation and iteration
  • Use the latest cloud technologies to design, implement, and test scalable distributed data systems. Champion engineering excellence by continuously improving systems and processes
  • Research, experiment with, and implement suitable ML algorithms and tools
  • Implement and scale data pipelines, new features, and algorithms that are essential to our production models
  • Research groundbreaking ML algorithms and tools, developing prototypes that drive the future of decisioning at Coalition
  • Thoughtfully communicate your work and experience in applied machine learning through internal collaborations and mentorship opportunities
  • Contribute and grow the culture of data excellence on our team by bringing mature empathy, best practices, and processes to our organization

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of ML or ML Ops experience in a production environment
  • 3+ years of experience with the AWS technical stack and data infrastructure such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Airflow
  • 2+ years of experience in deploying ML services to the cloud, including API development and design for scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Experience in working with ML frameworks like MLFlow, TensorFlow and Keras
  • Experience with database (SQL and NoSQL) systems such as Snowflake, Postgres, MongoDB
  • Strong programming skills in Python (5+ years)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills

Bonus Points

  • Master's degree in machine learning, neural networks, deep learning or related fields.
  • Knowledge of Big Data frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Flume, etc.
  • Experience with Sagemaker
  • Experience in Insurance or Fintech

  • Coalition’s individual pay is determined on several factors, including but not limited to, location, level, skills and experience. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 - $250,000, and your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process.
