About the Role

Coalition’s mission is to protect the unprotected. To do this, we are reinventing an experience for organizations that helps them be secure in the uncertain world of digital risks. This means providing security at multiple levels: cyber, financial, and emotional through our innovative, end-to-end product suite. This product suite enables a new category that we are pioneering called Active Insurance. As the Head of Data Science at Coalition you will own our entire data platform and all of the ways that we derive value from it including analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Making effective and innovative use of our data is a fundamental pillar of our Active Insurance Strategy. Your organization will drive innovative end-to-end solutions from understanding our business requirements and historical data in the areas such as risk assessment, underwriting, and classification. You will collaborate closely with both engineering peers and business stakeholders. We are a human centric organization that is building for the long-term. Responsibilities

• Build a world-class team. Hire excellent data scientists, machine learning engineers, and engineering managers. Mentor them and lay a clear growth path for your team
• Develop our data science strategy and vision. Your goal is to drive impact across different aspects of our business through innovative use of data science and machine learning
• Follow and share industry trends in data science and machine learning engineering
• Deliver machine learning models into production. Operate your services at scale with high operational rigor
• Create, enhance, and maintain technical documentation for all aspects of our data platform. Use this to drive engagement in the organization
• Work with executive stakeholders across the company to help incorporate company goals and initiatives into the vision and plans for your area
• Make Coalition a better place by modeling our cultural values and taking on the unseen, unforeseen, and important items that come up along the way

Skills and Qualifications

• Computer Science or Engineering degree, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years experience in data science, data analytics, and machine learning
• 5+ years management experience and must have led a multi-team data science or machine learning engineering organization
• Demonstrated success delivering and operating machine learning capabilities in production

• Coalition’s individual pay is determined on several factors, including but not limited to, location, level, skills and experience. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 - $270,000, and your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process.
