The Role:

As a member of our new client-facing multi-broker/multi-prime institutional platform engineering team you will play an integral part in the design and development of the platform. We are looking for someone who is experienced in building external-facing web-applications and microservices with modern best practices, and passionate about solving complex business and technical problems with traditional and emerging technologies. You will write code and collaborate with fellow engineering team members, product managers and business users in an agile/iterative environment. As an experienced member of the team, you will have the opportunity to mentor your fellow teammates and provide valuable insights on best practices and architectural leadership for our backend applications.

The Team:

We are a small team of high performing engineers, mostly based in New York, with a good mix of deep domain knowledge and software engineering expertise. Clear Street is building out this platform from the ground up. Members of the team have the unique opportunity in the industry to build a large-scale, client-facing platform on a modern and scalable technology stack from scratch.We employ a wide variety of technologies including latest versions of Java/Spring Boot, React (front-end), Kafka and Postgres. Clear Street Engineering provides a modern developer experience for engineers, including excellent CI/CD tooling and a managed k8s environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 7+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production.
• Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience utilizing Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Kafka, RDBMS, and microservice based server side application development.
• Ability to create clean, concise, readable, maintainable code with modern best practices.
• Effective and concise oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with containerisation, microservices architecture, continuous integration and deployment.

We Offer:

The Base Salary Range is $170,000 - $240,000. These ranges are representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Which range a candidate fits into and where a candidate falls in the range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. These ranges represent Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The ranges stated do not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
