About the Role

Caribou is looking for an Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage our accounts payable function and multiple month end accounting processes . As a member of Caribou’s Finance team, you will report to the Assistant Controller and work closely with colleagues in Finance & Accounting. The Accounts Payable Manager will:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable department in order to receive, enter, and process accounts payable invoices, while ensuring invoices are appropriately coded in the general ledger.
  • Oversee the ACH, wire and check run process to pay vendors and employees on a timely basis within specified terms.
  • Implement best Accounts Payable practices and share knowledge to promote process standardization within the organization when applicable.
  • Correspond with vendors and expense business owners when necessary to respond to inquiries.
  • Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information, reconcile related GL accounts to Accounts Payable sub-ledger, enter journal entries as needed to ensure accuracy of financial statements under US GAAP.
  • Prepare journal entries and month end account reconciliations for prepaids and accruals.
  • Manage the employee expense reimbursement process to ensure compliance with travel and expense guidelines on a timely basis to meet payroll processing deadlines
  • Manage the company credit card program, including preparation of transaction uploads to general ledger system, receipt collection and reconciliation of month-end account balances.

This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC and Denver, CO. Alternatively, the Accounts Payable Manager may work remotely from a state where Caribou does business. However, this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience, with 3 years in accounts payable required, working in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls experience a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • ERP systems experience required, NetSuite a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and be able to manage large datasets

Interview Process:

    • Executive Interview (30-45 minutes)
