ABOUT THIS ROLE

Apex Fintech Solutions is looking for a Director, Technical Program Management to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of program and project managers and be responsible for driving the successful execution of complex technical programs and projects within the Apex Technology team. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that Apex delivers innovative financial software solutions predictably that meet business and customer needs. Your exceptional leadership skills and strategic mindset will play a critical role in shaping our technical roadmap and driving continuous improvement across our technical program management function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Apex’ Technical Program Management team and be accountable for the successful delivery of the programs, processes, projects, and tools in your portfolio that enable Apex to operate with higher predictability, clarity, efficiency, and develop a data and narrative-driven culture.

  • Partner closely with peers, leaders, and stakeholders to build and drive the strategic vision for your team and Apex’s tech product delivery and execution practice. 

  • Identify, develop, and put into practice new tools and processes that enable Apex to scale and optimize its product delivery efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Hire, coach, develop and guide Individual Contributor Program and Project Managers. Help them establish data-driven charters, establish processes, and target states for their program areas. Deliver clarity through communicating program and project roadmaps and updates.

  • Develop and sustain strong, collaborative working relationships with other departments across Apex to develop understanding, assign work, and build trust.  

  • Have a bias for action to tackle ambiguity and deliver clarity whether rolling up your sleeves on a project or resolving conflicts and driving an accountable culture with your team through ‘in the moment’ feedback.

  • Support continuous learning within the team, giving team members opportunities to grow their skills and meet their career aspirations.

  • Partner with Engineering and Product Leadership to evolve Apex’s delivery culture and processes. 

  • Generate energy to motivate the team throughout the entire product cycle.

  • Position requires 25%+ time for travel. (We’re a distributed company.)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS or engineering degree), financial management, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree or MBA a plus.

  • 10+ years of program or hands-on project management experience. Experience with financial industries and FinTech is a plus

  • 5+ years of people management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working with business stakeholders, senior leaders, and clients within a large organization.  

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire teams.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.  Experience presenting to senior management and independently driving presentation preparation.

  • Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Office Suite, Google Work, Slack, JIRA, Confluence, etc.

  • Understanding of Agile/SAFE practices, with a strong preference for best practices and incremental delivery.

  • Demonstrated experience leading program / project management and execution for cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated full-lifecycle ownership of program development through delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as PMP, ISACA, CAPM and demonstrated practice. 

  • Deep experience with Atlassian products such as JIRA and Confluence. 

  • Experience operating a central execution group such as a TPM pool, PMO, or similar. 

  • Management experience building B2B SaaS solutions; Financial Services (Payments, Brokerage, Wealth Management, Trading, Clearing, Settlements, etc) industry experience is a strong plus.
